Penafiel lose to Moreirense in arguably longest game ever!

The match between Penafiel and Moreirense in the Portuguese League Cup group stage could be the longest game in the history of football. The match was halted on two occasions due to floodlight failure and the referee gave 72 minutes of added time.

The Portuguese League Cup group stage clash between Penafiel and Moreirense ended up being one of the longest games ever. 

The clash between both second tier teams was halted twice in the second half due to floodlight failure and the referee played 72 minutes of additional time. 

"This had never happened here before, it was the first time. There's always a first time for everything. We'll be able to resume the fixture," the Penafiel president told 'SportTV' when the game was stopped. 

Moreirense were able to fight back in added time thanks to goals from Petkov in the 145th minute and then Andre Luis in the 154th. The home side had taken the lead after 31 minutes thanks to a goal from Roberto.
