“I want to thank the president and all the club. I am so happy and I hope to stay many more years after 2026”. Pedri was speaking in the Auditori 1899 at the Camp Nou in a press conference after extending his contract with FC Barcelona. He was joined by members of his family and club president Joan Laporta who spoke of “the importance of today’s event for the future of the club. We are all very happy.”

Barcelona made official this Thursday the renewal of Pedri Gonzalez, who signs a new deal until 2026. The 18-year-old now has Barcelona's largest buyout clause at Barça, a billion euros, and becomes the largest buyout clause in the world alongside Benzema's.

Pedri signed for Barcelona in 2019, but Barcelona loaned him out to his former team Las Palmas for another season. Pedri has just completed one season with Barça, but that season alone was enough to prove himself and earn him a new contract.

During the 2020-21 season Pedri played in all compoetitions,  including the European Under 21 Championships, the senior team and the Olympic Games. He is also among the 30 finalists for the Ballon d'Or.

Barça plays Valencia on Sunday 17th October at 21:00 at Camp Nou.
