New season, same story. Barcelona were at risk of being overrun by Levante’s lightning-quick counterattacks, but Pedri has an uncanny ability to slow the game down when it matters most. Like a gearbox, he always shifts into the right gear at the right time. At the Ciutat, he was a magnet for the ball—threading passes through tight spaces, switching play from flank to flank, and stretching Levante’s shape.
According to BeSoccer Pro, Pedri attempted 124 passes, equalling his Barcelona record.
He originally set that benchmark on 15 December 2024, in a 0–1 defeat against Leganés at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. On that occasion, his pass completion rate was 93%, slightly better than this past Saturday at the Ciutat (92%).
In fact, throughout his entire career, Pedri has only attempted more passes once: during Spain’s Round of 16 clash vs. Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, when he reached a staggering 137 passes.
Pedri not only stood out for the sheer volume of passes attempted, but also for how many found their target. While his best remains 127 completed passes vs. Morocco, and 116 vs. Leganés, he came close again—115 completed passes against Levante. Impressively, 25 of those came in the final third (compared to 23 vs. Leganés).
He also equalled his career-high for forward passes—69—matching the number he recorded against Japan in the 2022 World Cup under Luis Enrique.
