Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Swedish defender Victor Lindelof on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Manchester United.
The 31-year-old centre-back has agreed a deal at Villa Park until June 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.
Lindelof, who underwent his medical on Friday, chose Villa ahead of rival interest from Fiorentina and Everton after the Midlands club tabled the most attractive proposal.
The Sweden international gave his approval earlier this week and is now set to begin a new chapter under Unai Emery.
Renowned for his composure on the ball and positional awareness, the centre-back is expected to add leadership and depth to Villa's back line as they prepare for both Premier League and European campaigns.
His arrival highlights Villa's ambition to keep strengthening their squad after last season's success. Emery now has another experienced option in defence, with supporters at Villa Park eager to welcome the Swede as the club look to consolidate their place among England's elite.
