The now 35 year old defender enjoyed a three year spell at Estadio do Dragao between 2004-2007, winning two league titles, before joining Spanish giants Real Madrid for £30 million. Pepe has been a free agent since the start of December, after terminating his contract with Turkish outfit Besiktas by mutual consent. There had been many rumours surrounding the defender with a move to the Premier League, with clubs such as Wolves and Arsenal said to be interested in recruiting his experiennce.
Yet on Tuesday morning, the reigning Portuguese champions announced that the player had decided to return home, signing a two and a half year deal until June 30, 2021.
In joining Porto, Pepe will reunite with former Real Madrid team mate Iker Casillas.
