Goalkeeper Mike Penders has signed a contract with Chelsea until 2032 from Belgian side KRC Genk, the English club announced on Tuesday.

Chelsea continue to strengthen their squad in this summer transfer window, but not only for the 2024/25 season, but also for the next one.

Goalkeeper Mike Penders, who has spent his entire professional career playing for Belgian side KRC Genk at various levels, has signed a seven-season contract with the Stamford Bridge outfit, meaning he will play for the Blues until 2032.

"Penders made his senior debut for Genk last month against Standard Liege. He kept a clean sheet and, at 18 years and 363 days, became the third-youngest goalkeeper to debut in the Jupiler Pro League," Chelsea wrote on their website.

However, the 19-year-old will not play for Enzo Maresca's side until next campaign. He will join the squad from next summer and will continue to play in the Belgian league until then.
