After he spent the second half of last season on loan at the Foxes, Leicester City have signed Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans for a club record £40 million on a four-year deal.

The Belgian midfielder caught the eye after joining the former Premier League champions on loan in January, scoring three goals and dishing out four assists in 13 appearances.

Now, Leicester have broken their transfer record for the second time in a week to bring the 22 year-old Belgium international over from Monaco on a permanent basis, with his £40 million fee eclipsing the £30 million they paid Newcastle for Ayoze Pérez just days ago.

His sparkling form at the King Power Stadium during the second half of the 2018/19 season drew interest from some of Europe's top clubs, including Manchester United, but Tielemans has chosen to go back to Leicester and continue his development in the Premier League.

Speaking to the club's official website, the midfielder spoke of his happiness at being able to return to the Foxes: “It is such a great feeling to sign for this Football Club. Ever since I arrived on loan last season, all the players, the staff and the fans have been fantastic with me, so I’m thrilled to be able to become a Leicester City player.

“I believe that we have the talent in our squad to achieve something special and for any player, that’s an exciting thing to be a part of. I really can’t wait to get started again with this Club and do everything I can to help my team-mates", he continued.

The young Belgian will now link up with the rest of his teammates for a training camp in France as Leicester gear up for a European push during the upcoming Premier League season.
