Eintracht Frankfurt confirm that they have activated the option to buy clause of eight million euros on Luka Jovic's loan from Benfica. The Serb, who has been linked with a whole host of big clubs in the past weeks, signs a new contract until 30th June 2023

It will come as no surprise to anyone who has watched the 21 year-old striker play this season that Eintracht Frankfurt have made Jovic their player on a permanent deal

"Luka's growth with us has been really good. We had no doubts that we wanted to tie him down to the club", said sporting director Fredi Bobic in a statement released by the German club.

Bobic praised the quality of the breakout star, who has seemingly been coveted by half of Europe, stating: "He is a player with extraordinary ability. It is important for us that he has joined."

Jovic was loaned to Eintracht for two years by Benfica, and although he scored 9 goals in 27 games last season, his tally of 25 in 40 outings this season has seen his stock rise massively.

With the clause requiring a fee of just 8 million euros, Eintracht will no doubt be in for a busy summer of negotiations with Europe's biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, as they look to keep their talisman for at least one season more.

Benfica have, however, included a sell-on clause of 30% - a figure that could be fairly substantial if Jovic does move in the near future. Jovic's value is rising as he continues to score goals, and Eintracht will be rubbing their hands at the potential profit that they will make.
