Arsenal have announced the transfer of goalkeeper David Raya, who joins the Gunners from rival London club, Brentford. The Spaniard becomes Mikel Arteta's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.

Arsenal have completed the transfer of keeper David Raya, who joins the club from rival west London side, Brentford.

Raya spent four seasons with the Bees, making over 150 appearances and helping get them promoted to the Premier League following his second campaign.

Now however, he has been open about wanting more, and joins the Gunners in the hunt for silverware, signing a five-year deal until 2028, reported to be worth £30 million. Although this falls short of their initial valuation of £40 million, they still make a huge profit off him, after signing him for just £2.9 million.

The Spanish international joins to compete with starting keeper Aaron Ramsdale, and will need to work hard to impress his new bosses if he wants to rival the England keeper for a spot in Mikel Arteta's starting XI.

The move was made possible as the Gunners' backup keeper, Matt Turner, left Emirates to join Nottingham Forest, creating a gap in the roster for the Spaniard. Despite representing Spain on the international stage, the 27-year-old has spent enough time in England that he arrives at Arsenal counting as one of their 'homegrown' players.
