Luis de la Fuente has announced his squad for Espana's World Cup qualifying matches against Bulgaria and Turkey.
Luis de la Fuente has revealed his squad for the World Cup qualifiers as the Spanish national team prepare to face Bulgaria and Turkey on September 4th and 7th. There was anticipation surrounding the squad announcement, with Isco, Álex Baena and Samu Omorodion ruled out through injury. Dani Carvajal and Rodri Hernandez return after overcoming their respective fitness concerns.
Joan Garcia will not be included. A subject of debate for months, including during his time at Espanyol, the manager is keeping faith with Unai Simon, David Raya and Alex Remiro. Óscar Mingueza makes way for a fully recovered Carvajal. There were no changes in central defence or at left-back.
In midfield, the major addition is Rodri, who also returns following a lengthy injury layoff. In attack, Ayoze and Samu Omorodion were unavailable. Ferran Torres is included this time, but the new face in the squad is Jesus Rodriguez, formerly of Betis, who now plays for Como and was a regular for the Under-21s.
