After eight successful seasons at the club, it is time to say goodbye. Javier Mascherano will leave Barcelona to embark upon a new adventure in China and the Camp Nou will pay homage to the Argentine on Wednesday.

The club officially announced the departure of the ‘Little Chief' after 334 appearances and 18 trophies. The versatile defender will say goodbye to Barca fans on Wednesday at 11.00am CET in the Auditori 1899, at an event that will be streamed on the club website and will be attended by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the first team squad.

The Argentine will play his final fixture for Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Thursday night when they host Espanyol in the second leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-final. Kick-off is at 9.30pm CET.

After signing from Liverpool in 2010, Mascherano excelled under five different coaches, Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Tata Martino, Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde, leading the team from the back and going on to become the fourth foreigner with more games to his name for Barcelona, behind Leo Messi, Phillip Cocu and Dani Alves.
