The young full back has signed a new long term deal with the Merseyside club.

Having established himself as the club's first choice right back over the past two seasons, the young Liverpudlian has been rewarded for his progress by being handed a new long term contract at Anfield. The club confirmed the news on Friday, announcing that the five year deal will see the player remain on Merseyside until 2024.

After rising through the ranks at the club's Melwood academy; Alexander-Arnold made his debut in October 2016, displacing Nathaniel Clyne as Jurgen Klopp's preferred right sided full back, and even forcing his way into the England World Cup squad this past summer.  Now 20 years old, Alexander-Arnold is set to continue to develop his talents at Anfield, at least for the next five years.

Upon signing the contract extension, the youngster was keen to express his pride at the news. He told 'LiverpoolFCTV': "I'm ecstatic and really proud. I feel privileged to have the support and the trust the club has in me to offer me a new deal. There was no doubt in my mind to sign and extend the years I have with the club. Hopefully we can achieve a lot of success in those years. As soon as they offered the contract, there was no hesitation whatsoever."

Alexander-Arnold only recently signed a contract extension in the summer of 2017, yet the significant progress he has made in  the last 18 months has encouraged Liverpool to secure his services on a long term basis. Confirmation of the Alexander-Arnold's new deal comes just days after Liverpool tied down fellow full back Andy Robertson to a similar long term extension.
