Real Madrid have announced that, after shining in the Erdevisie, Norwegian youngster Martin Odegaard will stay in La Liga and play on loan at Real Sociedad during the upcoming season.

"Real Madrid C. F. and Real Sociedad have agreed the loan of the player Martin Odegaard for the next season, until 30 June, 2020", the club announced through an official statement on their website.

After rising through the academy at Norwegian side Stromsgodset IF, the midfielder joined Real Madrid aged 16 in 2015, spending two mediocre seasons at RM Castilla before moving to the Netherlands.

There, he spent two seasons out of the media spotlight on loan at Heerenveen, which were followed by a fruitful 2018/19 campaign at Vitesse

Odegaard was one of the Eredivisie's standout performers last season, scoring 11 goals and dishing out 12 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.

His impressive showings meant that the young Norwegian has not been short of suitors ahead of next season, when he will continue his development in Spain before returning to Real Madrid and trying to break into the first team.
