Nine things that didn't exist the last time Real Madrid drew three consecutive blanks

Real Madrid's defeat to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night means that the reigning European Champions have now gone three consecutive games without scoring for the first time in over a decade...

'Los Blancos' extended their winless run in Russia, with a 1-0 defeat following up a 0-0 draw in the Madrid derby against Atletico and a 3-0 reverse against Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

To find the last time the Spanish giants went three games without scoring we must cast our eyes back to late 2006/ early 2007.

The first game of that run was the last of 2006, with Recreativo stunning the Bernabeu faithful by storming to a 3-0 win. Fabio Capello's side struggled to bounce back, losing 2-0 to Deportivo at Riazor next up to drop to fourth, before playing out a 0-0 draw with Real Betis in the Copa del Rey to complete the sequence.

That dismal run was eventually ended three days later courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over Real Zaragoza.

Back in 2007, Smartphones had still not arrived in our lives, whilst WhatsApp would not come into existence until 2009.

Staying with technology, the mere mention of 4G would have been an alien concept back then, with the system not being fully adopted until 2009.

In the music world, Spotify was still just a pipe dream, with MP3 players and CDs remaining the norm.

TVs, meanwhile, have advanced rapidly in a short space of time, with DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) not being implemented until 2010, meaning that the last time Real Madrid went through such a run, it was broadcast on analogue TV.

Netflix and tablets were certainly not around at the time, despite being an everyday part of modern society.

eBooks had just about come into existence around that time, though they would not really take off until a year or so later.

Even energy-saving light bulbs did not enjoy their boom until 2009.
