Readers of a certain age will remember Ronaldinho as a particularly inventive set-piece taker and if Neymar's display against Anderlecht on Wednesday night was anything to go by he appears to have taken inspiration from his compatriot.

The 25-year-old stood over a free kick against the Belgian side in the Champions League on Wednesday with the chance of making it 3-0 to PSG, the only problem was that the foul had been committed right on the edge of the box, giving him very little room to get the ball up and over the wall and back down again.

Neymar was aware of the issue though and instead fired a low free kick under the wall, which had jumped in anticiaption of a more powerful effort, and into the bottom corner.

It was an impressive piece of invention that will have reminded more than a few fans of a certain buck-toothed hero.
