Dan Gosling scored against his former club in the 89th minute as Newcastle surrendered a two goal lead in the closing ten minutes at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Dwight Gayle scored twice in the first half, the first a back-heel on the line after some fine work by Jonjo Shelvey, but it was not enough to see the game out. Adam Smith reduced the arrears before Gosling scored with one minute remaining.

Shelvey missed a golden opportunity to make it 3-0 and Newcastle were punished. The 'Magpies' could have climbed into the top half of the table with a win, and it was a very impressive opening 45 minutes from Rafa Benitez's side.

Jamaal Lascelles was commanding in the air and the midfield worked well to press, so they while they come away from this with a point in many ways it will feel like a loss. Bournemouth however will be pleased with the spirit of the comeback. Newcastle were commanding for most of the match, but were left hanging on for a draw as the 'Cherries' piled forward at the end.

Speaking to the 'BBC', Eddie Howe said: "We had been flat - Newcastle were dogged and made it difficult for us, but you have to compliment the players for the last 10 minutes - that is what we wanted to be, we showed a lot of quality and character to come back. It's another point that nudges us towards where we want to be - every one could be vital at the end of the season."
