Newcastle United are moving forward with plans to loan goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos to Sevilla for the 2025/26 season.

The 31-year-old joined the Magpies last summer for around £20 million from Nottingham Forest, in a deal that saw Elliot Anderson head to the City Ground.

These transfers were largely driven by Newcastle's urgent need to meet the Premier League's profitability and sustainability regulations by the June 2024 deadline.

Vlachodimos, however, was not originally targeted by the club and currently falls outside Eddie Howe's plans for the forthcoming campaign.

With limited opportunities at St James' Park, a loan move to Sevilla offers Vlachodimos a chance for regular playing time while helping Newcastle balance their financial books. Discussions between all parties are reportedly advancing well.

As the summer progresses, the loan deal is expected to be completed soon, allowing Newcastle to focus on reshaping their squad in line with the manager's vision and regulatory requirements.
