Former Bayern Munich player Lothar Matthaus has asked the German club to take the captaincy away from Manuel Neuer because the goalkeeper has criticised the team following the sacking of Toni Tapalovic.

Manuel Neuer has more and more 'enemies' at Bayern Munich. Former Bayern player Lothar Matthaus has criticised the goalkeeper's behaviour.

The former midfielder criticised Neuer's actions both for his injury and his latest comments on Toni Tapalovic.

"He practised skiing without thinking about the team. He also gave an unauthorised interview and criticised the club. It's unacceptable that Neuer remains Bayern captain," Matthaus said on 'Sky Sports'.

Matthaus did not understand Neuer's words either and thought he was exaggerating: "Nobody has died. There is nothing wrong, there are no sick children. It's about the dismissal of a worker," he added.
