Problems with the video Assistant Referee caused Sunday's Serie A clash between Napoli and Roma to be delayed for five minutes before it eventually started without the use of technology.

The San Paolo crowd was made to wait five minutes for kick-off after it emerged that the images from the game were not reaching the VAR team.

Despite Napoli explaining the reason for the delay to the crowd there was an angry response from the home faithful, with the referee in charge of the encounter being loudly whistled from the stands.

Along with the image problem, there was also an issue with the audio feed between the referee and the fourth official.

In the end, the game started without the assistance of video tecnhology as those present became impatient having found no obvious solution to the problems.

Whilst VAR has divided people following its widespread introduction, the majority of the feedback has been positive, with incidents such as this extremely rare.
