Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was in attendance as Sweden shocked Italy in the first leg of the World Cup play-off, and was pleased with the performance of Emil Forsberg.

The talented winger has long been a target for Jose Mourinho, who watched from the stands as the RB Leipzig man picked up Man of the Match for his performance in Sweden's 1-0 win over Italy.

A driving force in RB Leipzig's breakthrough into Europe last season, the Portuguese manager is keen to bring in the 26-year-old to strengthen the flanks.

Forsberg played 30 Bundesliga matches last season as Leipzig finished second above Borussia Dortmund, and Friday's impressive display may have been the clincher to convince Mourinho to sign the playmaker.
