According to 'The Guardian' Jose Mourinho will only sign a new contract with Manchester United if he believes the terms reflect his achievements at the club.

The Portuguese tactician, who is nearing the halfway point of his current Old Trafford deal, won the Europa League and the EFL Cup in his first season with the Red Devils.

His success in Europe's second tier competition ensured United returned to the Champions League this season, something his predecessor, Louis van Gaal, was incapable of.

Currently earning a whopping £15m a year, Mourinho expects a big bump up on his new package given that he has been the only manager following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson to reinstall serious form at Old Trafford.

Jose's men have made a flying start to the new campaign, sitting only behind rivals Manchester City after eight games in the Premier League table. They have also picked up maximum points from their opening two Champions League games, and continue their defence of the EFL Cup next week at Swansea City.

United chiefs will be keen to tie their experienced boss down to a new deal as soon as possible, given that recent reports are suggesting he could have his eye on a move to PSG.
