Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that he read Danny Rose's controversial interview just like any one else but joked that he didn't put the Tottenham defender up to it.

The 27-year-old left-back launched a sensaitonal rant last week in which he claimed that Tottenham's lack of signings this summer constituted a lack of ambition and maintained that he should be paid more than he currently is.

When asked about the interview Mourinho said that he was relucant to comment as he didn't want to upset Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino or chairman Daniel Levy.

'I should not comment because Mauricio would not be happy if I comment, Mr Levy would not be happy if I comment and because I had nothing to do with that interview,' said the Portuguese.

'I just read it the way you did, I just read but Danny Rose is a Spurs player and it is not my problem at all.'

Reports have since claimed that the England international could make the swith to Old Trafford with Luke Shaw heading in the other direction.

Rose was born in Yorkshire and has admitted that he would like to move back up North and compete for trophies before the end of his career.

Could he do so with Manchester United?
