Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has had his say on the controversial incident surrounding Romelu Lukaku and Liverpool's Dejan Lovren.

On Monday, Lovren claimed that Lukaku deliberately stamped on his face during Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

He said: 'I made a tackle there, I felt he was over me and he could move away, but, to be honest, my point of view is that he did it on purpose.

'Even if he did it normally he would apologise after that but I saw that he was nervous during the game so maybe that was also the reason [why he didn't apologise].

'That happened on the pitch and it is over. I cannot change it and no one can change it, so that is what I am thinking about. This is not my decision. I cannot say I am disappointed but it is what it is. We need to move on. That is football, part of the game.'

However, Mourinho has now criticised the defender for wanting to move on from the incident and then publically discussing it.

Speaking ahead of United's Champions League game against Benfica, Mourinho said: 'You know, I read something but there is a big contradiction there because he says let's move on and forget what happened, but then he spends 10 minutes speaking about what he thinks happened and didn't happen.

'So, for me, (they are) words without any meaning. The FA committee is there to analyse and make decisions, so no comment.'

It has since been confirmed that Lukaku will not face any action from the Football Association.
