It was the game in which Mourinho cemented his status as one of the footballing world's greatest tacticians. Inter were up against the favourites for the Champions League title in Barcelona, but ended up beating them 3-1 at home...despite going behind and only having 30% possession.
How was he capable of beating that great Pep Guardiola team? The answer lies in Mourinho's astute approach, which he recently revealed in a video for 'The Coaches' Voice' with a visual representation of each player and the orders given to them by their coach.
"The first leg was at home and we knew that the second game in Barcelona would be even more difficult," began Mourinho, before commenting on how they "caged Messi", "neutralized the lateral attacks of Barcelona" and speaking about the tactics used to start counterattacks.
"It was difficult to think that it would all work out when we only had 30% of possession and the opponent had 70%, but we had more opportunities and were closer to scoring. We had control of the game," he says in an unmissable 12-minute video.<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4wAG5ZUJ4eI" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
