Leicester City captain Wes Morgan says that striker Jamie Vardy is the most direct striker in Premier League and the Jamaican is confident that he will terrorise plenty of defences this season after scoring twice against Arsenal on the opening day of the new campaign.
Leicester fell to a 4-3 defeat against Arsenal, despitee leading 3-2 with just 10 minutes to go, but Vardy still impressed for Craig Shakespeare's side.
England manager Gareth Southgate was also in attendance as 30-year-old Vardy scored twice, with the former Stocksbridge Park Steels man a very real option ahead of next summer's World Cup.
Speaking after the game, Morgan was full of praise for Vardy, whose performance was reminiscent of his form two season ago, when he helped the 'Foxes' to the most unlikely of Premier League titles.
'I don't think there is anyone in the Premier League as direct as Vards,' said Morgan
'Defences are terrified of his pace which is fantastic for us as we have him on our side and we can utilise it as much as possible.
'It is his strength but he doesn't make those runs for the sake of it, the timing of his runs is perfect and his control and finishing is on point as we saw against Arsenal.
'That is his attribute; playing on the shoulder and getting in behind onto balls we put down the sides. That is his strength. And as long as he is playing we will play to his strengths.
'I'm sure he will be delighted to get off the mark.
'It is great for us, him finding the net early in the season and hopefully it will lead to more.'
Morgan was naturally disappointed to have fallen to defeat against the 'Gunners', but he insisted that there were positives to take from the game.
'It was bitterly disappointing after leading 3-2 up with 10 minutes to go, but it was one of those games, end to end, where there were lots of chances for both teams and we didn't get the results we wanted,' he explained.
'There are still a lot of positives to take out of the game, scoring three goals away from home is one.
'The goals we conceded were hard to take. You can break them down and there was probably a bit of naivety that we need to tidy up on but sometimes it takes a while to get into the swing of things and we will get better.'
