Dembele, Umtiti and Gavi have tested positive for COVID-19 after the PCR tests done on the squad. Barcelona have confirmed that these players "are well and are isolating at home."
In addition, the club has told the authorities about these new cases of coronavirus, which come after those of Jordi Alba, Lenglet, Balde and Dani Alves. These were confirmed just two days back so it has been a difficult start to week for the Catalans.
That means Xavi has more players out just four days prior to the game with Mallorca which takes place on Sunday at 21:00 CET. The Catalan coach will have very limited options for the first game of 2022.
Gavi was already out of the game through suspension while Dembele's positive result was not unexpected as the Frenchman had missed Tuesday's training session after feeling unwell.
Ferran Torres is injured and still not available for Barca while Ansu Fati is still also out. Abde, Jutgla and Luuk de Jong are looking to start the game in Mallorca.
