Montpellier record 12 positive cases: eight are players!
Montpellier confirmed that their last round of testing returned 12 positive results. Eight of them are first-team players, a significant blow to the French side.
Montpellier are due to travel to Monaco on Sunday in Gameweek seven of Ligue 1 but the game is now up in the air.
12 people have tested positive at Montpellier, eight of whom are players with the others making up part of the coaching staff.
"The PCR tests carried out on Thursday revealed that eight players and four members of staff have COVID-19. More tests will be carried out on Friday morning after training. The 12 who tested positive are isolating at home as outlined by public health protocols", said the club in a statement.
The outbreak has called Sunday's clash with Montpellier into question. In any case, the clubs will have to wait for a decision from the LFP.
