The Egyptian was criticised by Russia international Denis Cheryshev's father in an interview. Dmitri Cheryshev earnt ten caps for his country during his playing career, and is set to watch his son follow in his footsteps.

Salah has enjoyed a phenomenal season with Liverpool, having been awarded the Golden Boot, tallying up 44 goals across all competitions and reaching the Champions League final. However, it is not enough for Cheryshev who claims Salah is not top level.

Cheryshev told 'KingFut': ''He is an exceptional player, but [he is] not a world-class football star who can compete for the [World Cup] Golden Boot. Right now [the contenders] are Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar and maybe [Harry] Kane.''

''Liverpool uses Salah properly, here, in the Egyptian national team, things will be different.'' Russia are gearing up to take on Egypt on Tuesday and Cheryshev is confident of their chances, he said: ''The team is getting ready for Egypt.''

''I played against Egypt head coach Hector] Cuper's teams before, he is the most tactical coach, you never know how to approach his teams. Any chance we might have we should use [in that match].''
