In football, everything is possible. From scoring within a minute to missing from on the goal line. The latter was exactly what happened to AEK Athens striker Sergio Araujo against Asteras.
The Argentine is currently on loan in Greece from Spanish side Las Palmas. Araujo has a good record so far this season in the Greek capital, having scored ten goals and laid on three assists in 26 games.
However, his spell in Greece will no doubt be remembered for one incident from the Asteras game.
In the 13th minute of the game, the striker made a run into the box to attack a cross, however the ball in from the left took a nick off a defender, taking the goalkeeper out of the equation completely.
The ball bounced towards the empty net, needing just a touch to finish it off but Araujo somehow only managed to thump the crossbar from less than a yard out.
It was an incredible miss, with Araujo himself barely able to believe what he had done.
