Liverpool's James Milner insists he still wouldn't get a game for England after he called time on his international career, despite enjoying an impressive start to the season.

The former Manchester City midfielder has impressed this season playing in an unfamiliar role at left-back, but Milner still believes that there would be better players ahead of him for England in his new position.

"I think I made the decision at the time that was best for everyone," he told 'Sky Sports'.

"I am also playing left-back at the moment and there are a number of very good left-backs who would be ahead of me. I think it is still the right decision".

Milner has played six games for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, scoring four goals, all of which coming from the penalty spot.
