Barcelona are in desperate need of a great display from their star man at the Bernabeu as they look to overturn the result in the Spanish Supercopa.

If someone can turn the impossible result around, that's Leo Messi. The Argentine is the biggest hope the Catalans cling onto in order to come back from the adverse result at the Camp Nou.

Messi knows what it's like to shine at the Bernabeu. He has been at the heart of several wins in the Spanish capital, 3-4, 2-6, 2-3 and a number of matches which ended in 0-2. He has also been on the losing side, namely when Barca were defeated 3-1 in 2014/15 or when his team offer their bitter rivals a guard of honour before walking out to a 4-1 rout in 2007/08.

Here are Messi's last five visits to the Bernabeu:

2016-17: Real Madrid 2 - Barcelona 3

Leo carried the weight of the team on his shoulders, scoring the equaliser and proving a constant threat. To put the cherry on the cake he scored a stoppage-time winner to give Barcelona hope in the race for La Liga.

2015-16: Real Madrid 0 - Barcelona 4

Messi started on the bench after recovering from injury, but by the time he was introduced to the match his team were already 3-0 up. On the pitch, Messi witnessed Suarez score the fourth goal past Navas.

2014-15: Real Madrid 3 - Barcelona 1

Luis Suarez's official debut with Barcelona. Messi played a good first half and he could have put the game out of reach for Madrid with a couple of chances in which Casillas came out on top. After the break, Barcelona could not avoid Real Madrid's comeback.

2013-14: Real Madrid 3 - Barcelona 4

Another day in which Messi frustrated the 'Blancos'. Messi scored three as his team emerged victorious from a thriller.

2012-13: Real Madrid 2 - Barcelona 1

Mourinho's Real Madrid, with La Liga almost lost, took the lead through Benzema. Messi equalised before the break, but with 10 minutes to go, Ramos gave his team the win.
