Lionel Messi meant business in Saturday's Catalan derby, not content with scoring and assisting, the Argentine took it upon himself to extend Barca's lead with an inventive free-kick.

After Girona took an early lead, Messi took centre-stage. First, he assisted the equaliser for Luis Suarez with an inch-perfect through ball before going one better and putting Barca in front himself.

With the time ticking away until the break, Barca were awarded a free-kick and there only ever looked like being one result.

Messi stepped up to curl the ball under the wall and into the bottom corner to double his tally for the night and put Barca 3-1 up.
