Leo Messi exhibited once again his dribbling prowess for the Argentina national squad, tallying up 107 feints and surpassing Maradona's record of 105 in the World Cup tournament.

The 'Albiceleste' knocked Nigeria out and secured their spot in the round of 16, but not without an outpouring of blood, sweat and tears. The agonising encounter seemed set for a tie, before a late goal from Marcos Rojo put Argentina ahead.

Argentina started the match with plenty of personality, that saw Leo Messi make his 2018 World Cup scoring debut with a right-footed drive, with Ever Banega picking up the assist.

Although Sampaoli's men accumulated several missed opportunities, Nigeria put the South American giants under intense pressure equalising after the restart from the penalty spot and unleashing panic.

However, beyond the deciding goal from Rojo, Leo Messi once again made history and snatched the dribbling record from the previous holder Maradona. The Barca star notched up 107 dribbles in the World Cup, leaving Maradona's 105 to take second place.
