Barcelona star Lionel Messi spoke to the press following his Man of the Match performance against Chelsea on Wednesday, with his latest milestone the main topic of conversation.

"It was wonderful feeling to reach the 100-goal mark in such a beautiful competition. The most important thing was the game, which was very difficult against a great side. They have a good team," Messi told 'beINSports' following the game.

The Argentine was lauded by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte following the game, with the Italian describing Messi as "the difference between the two sides" and Messi was grateful for the praise.

"I didn't hear that, I'm grateful for those words. I'm happy with how the night ended and to progress to the quarter-finals. It was a great game. I thank Conte for his words," said the Barca star.

Whilst Messi stole the show by scoring twice and laying on the other for Ousmane Dembele, the 30-year-old believed that Barca's clean sheet was the best indication of their hard work.

"Happy to have achieved everything. It was a very difficult game. That they didn't score says a lot about the team's work. They have players who can make the difference, but we were strong as a club. Once the third goal went in we were through," Messi concluded.
