Messi converted from the spot to double Barca's lead after Carvajal was sent off
Saturday's 'El Clasico' burst into life just after the hour mark, with Barcelona being awarded a penalty and Dani Carvajal seeing red.
Lionel Messi played in Luis Suarez and when his first effort was saved, a scramble ensued.
Barca desperately tried to force the ball over the line and whilst they eventually managed to do so, the whistle had already gone for handball.
The referee pointed to the spot and Carvajal was swiftly given his marching orders.
Messi stepped up and pewered the penalty beyond Keylor Navas to double Barca's lead and set them on course for victory.
