Leo Messi is getting closer and closer to matching Dani Alves' record as the player with the most trophies in the history of football. While the Argentine has 40 team trophies, the Brazilian now has 43. This Sunday, PSG and Nantes face off in the French Super Cup, a golden opportunity for Messi to close the gap on the new Pumas player.

This Sunday, PSG face Nantes in the French Super Cup final at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv (Israel). The match will be begin at 20:00 CEST and that game could see Messi move closer to a record.

The Argentinian legend is closer and closer to matching Dani Alves' record for most trophies won in the history of football. Throughout his career, the Argentinian striker has won 40 team trophies while the Brazilian, who has recently signed for Pumas, has 43.

Alves himself has spoken a lot about the possibility of the former Argentinian international beating him, something which the Brazilian takes with calm. He has even classed it as "another assist" towards Messi.

"If some day you have to be beaten, let it be by someone better than you. This publication is not because of ego, it's just so that you believe in yourself as well. Establish your destiny and fight every day until the target arrives!, Alves posted three months ago about Messi in his official Instagram account.
