Messi 'blocked Mesut Ozil move to Barcelona'
According to 'Don Balon', Lionel Messi advised against a potential approach from Barcelona for Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil towards the end of the transfer window.
The Spanish outlet claims that Messi thought a move for the German World Cup winner would represent poor business.
Despite securing a deal for French youngster Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona have endured a miserable transfer window, which has been criticised by former player and club legend Xavi.
Ozil is entering the final year of his Emirates contract and is yet to put pen to paper on a fresh deal with the Gunners.
He completed a a move from Barca's rivals Real Madrid in 2013 and his Bernabeu ties would have made any transfer a surprise one.
