Lionel Messi's late goal against Villarreal on Sunday saw the Argentine equal the great Gerd Muller's record as the top scorer for a single club in one of Europe's top five leagues.

The goal was Messi's 525th for Barcelona, with no one in the history of English, Spanish, French, Italian or German football having scored more goals than him for a single club.

Legendary striker Muller, often known as 'Der Bomber' had previously held the record thanks to his prolific career with Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, but with the Argentine now level, it seems only a matter of time before Messi is out in front on his own.

Barca were quick to take to Twitter to celebrate the achievement, posting a video comparing the goals scored by the two greats and it's fair to say that there were plenty to choose from!
