Mbappe sent off after VAR consulation
PSG striker Kylian Mbappe was given his marching orders during the League Cup victory over Rennes on Tuesday night, but not before VAR had been consulted by the on-field referee.
The starlet returned for action in the game, but he failed to see out the 90 minutes as he was sent off just after the hour mark.
Mbappe gave the ball away to Ismaila Sarr in the middle of the park and went about chasing his man down.
Keen to stop the counter, Mbappe had not one but two bites at the cherry, eventually fouling the Rennes youngster.
The referee immediately awarded the Frenchman a yellow card, but that was soon upgraded to red after a VAR referral revealed that Mbappe had caught his man on the calf with his studs.
