Kylian Mbappe's introduction was the catalyst for a tight win for PSG over Marseille.

The 19-year-old scored with his third touch after coming on as a substitute at the Stade Velodrome.

Mbappe, along with Adrien Rabiot, was reportedly relegated to the bench after arriving late for a team meeting, with Eric Choupo-Moting taking his place in the starting lineup.

PSG were desperately in need of the youngster's attacking flair on a day when they struggled to play through a well-organised Marseille side.

Such was the stalemate in the first half that it took until the dying moments of added time until either side came close to opening the scoring.

Angel Di Maria fired a good low shot past Steve Mandanda, which was headed squarely into the bottom corner.

However, Kevin Strootman was back on the line to clear the ball away and usher in half-time, at which point the two sides looked evenly matched.

Mandanda had to make two good saves to keep his side in the game, stopping efforts from Mbappe and Julian Draxler from putting PSG out of sight.

Ultimately, his efforts would be in vain, and it was Draxler who added gloss to the scoreline in the fifth minute of added time.

PSG broke with pace, and the German had the simplest finish in the world after Neymar had played the ball across an empty net.

The result leaves PSG top of the table with maximum points from their 11 games, while Marseille are left in fifth.
