Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has claimed that the club are in talks with striker Kylian Mbappe over a new contract.

Reports on Tuesday claimed that Real Madrid were confident of adding the player to their squad ahead of the upcoming season, with some even suggesting that a €180m fee had been agreed.

Monaco refuted those claims and it now appears that Mbappe could still potentially stay in France this summer.

The club's vicepresident Vadim Vasilyev says that they are in discussions with the 18-year-old over a new deal.

The Monegasque side are desperate to keep Mbappe at the club this summer after seeing Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko all move on to pastures new.

The teen sensation scored 26 goals in 44 games in all competitions last season, attracting interest from the world's top clubs in the process.

In a press conference on Wednesday Vasilyev said: "I have read a lot of things in the press."

"So far we have not signed any agreements with Real or any other club. All big clubs want him, he's the great hope of European football."

"We are in discussions over a contract extension with Kylian and we hope to reach an agreement."
