Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe suffered a right ankle sprain in the side's French Cup final victory over Saint-Etienne.

PSG, who also won the Ligue 1 title, say the 21-year-old's injury will be re-evaluated in 72 hours by a doctor.

Mbappe left the pitch in tears after being fouled by Saint-Etienne defender Loic Perrin in the first half.

Mbappé will not be in the League Cup final, but he does have a chance to appear in the Champions League. The official medical report from PSG reports that he has a sprained ankle, one of the least serious injuries of all, as it means it's not broken.

However, the medical update also states that he could have a major problem in the outer ligament of this joint. Therefore, he will be tested again in three days to make sure that it is not serious.

He is ruled out for PSG's next engagement, the 'Coupe de la Ligue' next Friday, but the most important clash of them all is still in the cards: PSG face Italian side Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals on 12 August.
