Mateu Lahoz to referee Netherlands v Argentina

FIFA has chosen Spanish referee Mateu Lahoz for the match between the Netherlands and Argentina. The Valencian coach will be in charge of refereeing one of the best duels of the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz has been appointed to referee the Netherlands-Argentina quarter-final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup on Friday.

The Valencian referee will be assisted on the sidelines by his compatriots Pau Cebrian and Roberto Diaz; the fourth official will be South African Victor Gomes; American Kyle Atkins will be the reserve referee; fellow Spaniard Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez will be on the VAR; the AVAR will be Canadian Drew Fischer; the offside VAR will be Italian Alessandro Giallantini; and the VAR support will be Chilean Julio Bascunan.

In the group stage, Mateu Lahoz refereed the Qatar-Senegal and Iran-USA matches.

The opening game of Friday's round of 8, Croatia-Brazil, will be refereed by England's Michael Oliver, who has already refereed Japan-Costa Rica and Saudi Arabia-Mexico at this World Cup.
