The Argentine utility man is thought to be nearing the exit door at the Camp Nou following the arrival of Colombian defender Yerry Mina.

Javier Mascherano lives his last hours as a Barca player. The 33-year-old has repeatedly asked to leave the club, who reportedly will honour his wish imminently. the player is thought to be keen on a move to China as he looks to secure more regular football and ensure his place in Argentina's World Cup squad.

With the signing of Mina now confirmed, Barca will fulfill their promise and allow the Argentine to leave. After the injury to Samuel Umtiti, the board of directors asked him to hold out for a few days until a replacement arrives so that the club weren't without options at centre-back.

The player will leave, according to the latest information, for around €10m - an amount that will almost completely cover the arrival of the Colombian central defender, who set the Catalans back €11.8m. A profitable exchange for the La Liga leaders who gain a 23-year-old international for not much investment

Mascherano could play his last game as a Barca player tonight against Celta in the Copa del Rey. After 333 matches, in which he only scored one goal, the Argentine would end a glorious career at Barca with four League titles, two Champion Leagues, two Club World Cups and four Copa del Reys under his belt. An enviable record after more than seven seasons for the Spanish giants.

The defender will go down in history for his charisma and leadership. The Camp Nou will lose its 'little boss', who could say goodbye today infront of the fans. Valverde has included him in the squad list so he could make the starting XI.
