Martin Keown's damning Arsenal verdict
Martin Keown has hit out at the Arsenal players for their capitulation following Troy Deeney's equaliser in Saturday's match against Watford.
After the Watford striker's brutally honest opinion on why Arsenal collapsed at Vicarage Road, former defender Keown has expressed his thoughts on the Gunners' problems.
"It seriously makes me look at the DNA of the Arsenal players, and in the recruitment, and the players that they are bringing to the football club. There needs to be more of a steeliness and determination," he told the 'BBC'.
He couldn't help but add that the contract situations of star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are having a negative effect on the team.
"We've got the saga of the two players... Are they leaving? Are they staying? It's just draining on the group.
"The way they capitulated when it went to 1-1 was just alarming," he concluded.
Not easy reading for the Arsenal faithful, but it is hard to disagree with Keown, a man who was part of the formidable Arsenal side at the turn of the century.
