Borussia Monchengladbach coach Marco Rose has said in the build up to his team's game with Augsburg that Alassane Plea will miss Saturday's match after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Bundesliga is back after the international break and Borussia Monchengladbach have suffered a major setback. They will be without one of their best players.

Plea has tested positive for COVID-19 after having a PCR test prior to the Bundesliga clash with Augsburg on Saturday (15:30 CET).

"He (Plea) won't play on Saturday because the player has tested positive for coronavirus," Marco Rose, the Gladbach boss said in the pre-match press conference.

The Borussia Monchengladbach coach admitted it will be a big loss for his side: "Of course he's an important player that we'll miss on Saturday."

The French striker, of Malian descent, has started the season well. He shone against Real Madrid in the 2-2 draw in the Champions League and he has scored four goals and given as many assists in nine appearances across all competitions.
