When Alaves were 0-1 up at Valdebebas, Real Madrid were furious as they felt Laguardia pulled Marcelo back by the hair. It may have been outside the box, but it was still a red card offence. The VAR inexplicably remained quiet.

Real Madrid were unable to kick on from the Champions League win over Inter Milan. Lucas Perez's early goal ruined their plans and Madrid had to react in the first half.

Zinedine Zidane's men were not at their best, but they tried. Hazard wanted a penalty which was not given and just before half-time, Marcelo had his hair pulled back by Laguardia.

It was a strange incident. When the Brazilian fullback was on the edge of the area, his hair was pulled back.

It could even be that the VAR did not check it as play was stopped for just a few seconds. Even if it was outside the box, Laguardia should have seen a red card.
