Marcelo will not exactly have fond memories of the Fluminense-EC Juventude second leg in the last 16 of the Brazilian Cup. The player was a substitute, came on in the 57th minute and, after shooting shortly after taking the pitch, took his hand to the groin. After 5 minutes he was already asking for a substitution.

Fluminense have been eliminated from the Copa do Brasil at the hands of EC Juventude. In the first leg, 'Flu lost 3-2, and in the second leg, they were held to a 2-2 draw, which saw their opponents go through with a 5-4 aggregate scoreline.

That was not the only bad news of the day. Marcelo ended up injured and played just five minutes.

The former Real Madrid player came on for Diago Barbosa in the 57th minute, when the game was 0-1 in favour of ED Juventude. Just a few minutes later, the defender had a shot that sailed over the top of the goal... and it was to be his last.

Quickly, Marcelo put his hand to his groin and was unable to continue. He asked for a substitution in the 62nd minute, exactly five minutes after coming on, and Esquerdinha took his place.
