'Maradona and Messi are on the same level'
Ex-Argentinian player Juan Sebastian Veron spoke to 'Marca', and gave his thoughts on the World Cup which Lionel Messi had, to which he said that "he's on the same level as Maradona".
"Maradona and Messi are on the same level". Those were Juan Sebastian Veron's words, who used to play for Argentina, when he spoke to 'Marca'. What is more, he pointed out that people are not prepared for what is to come.
"His footballing story is incredible and it deserved to have an ending like it did. It's an important legacy, the problem with all this is what comes after. It's going to be really complicated and difficult. I had the same with Maradona in his day", he admitted.
Veron, footballer who played with the PSG player, praised his career to date and said: "I don't think he needed that, but knowing how competitive he is, he needed to win that trophy to complete the story".
"Nowadays, it seems to me that Maradona and Messi are in the same place, because they've both got the World Cup. But nothing will blur Maradona's history with Argentina, which is similar to Messi now", he added.
