A long Manchester United possession that took up the final two minutes of stoppage time came to nothing and it's all over at Old Trafford. The 1-1 draw means that Liverpool move to 45 points, tied in second place with Tottenham, while Man Utd stay in sixth, with 40 points.

Coutinho created an opening and found the unmarked Wijnaldum but De Gea saved his lukewarm shot.

Both players see the yellow card as Herrera stopped the Brazilian with a foul but both pulled each other's shirt.

With literally every player but De Gea in Liverpool's box, Rooney sends a cross from the left in to Fellaini who hits the post with his header on the turn. Valencia gets the rebound and flicks it back in the middle to Zlatan, who sends it to the back of net for the equaliser.

There is a little over 10 minutes left and we see even a smartly dressed David Beckham looking truly worried in the stands of Old Trafford as United cannot seem to pierce through Liverpool's defence.

Liverpool went on the break and Origi fired off from the left edge of the box, but De Gea stretched to send it above the post. Pogba, of all people, cleared the corner - without using his hands

Liverpool looked like they had settled somewhat better during the opening 10 minutes which were a scrappy affair, but United were much more convincing during the last 35 minutes of the first half. Were it not for Pogba's handball, it is difficult to see how Liverpool would be ahead in this match.

Origi got the chance to make a run into United's area but lost the control and the United defence cleared

Milner aimed for the right top corner and De Gea did well but it still went in, Liverpool go ahead thanks to a rather silly penalty courtesy of Pogba.

What did Pogba do there? Liverpool take the corner and in his efffort to clear he extends his arm and hits the ball with his hand. No doubt it was a penalty.

Phil Jones fluffed his lines at the edge of the box but Firminho's effort was deflected by Rojo

Mkhitaryan played a nice ball to Pogba but the Frenchman's effort passed just wide

Zlatan misses big chance

Mignolet could not take grab the ball following a poisonous back pass, Ibrahimovic nicked it from the Liverpool goalkeeper but looped the ball onto the top of the net

United miss first chance

Ibrahimovic extended his long leg in front of Liverpool's post but could not connect with the ball following a clever long pass by Martial from the left wing

United penalty claim rejected

Martial went down in the Liverpool area but the referee signalled to play on
